IS STUDY IN INDIA IS BETTER THAN ABROAD?

When deciding whether to study in India or abroad, there are several criteria that immediately come to mind. Studying in India has its set of pros and cons, just like how studying abroad has its set of advantages and disadvantages.
Before coming to a conclusion as to whether studying in India or another country is beneficial, it is extremely important to understand your future goals.
What are your goals?
The first question that you should ask yourself is "Do I plan to settle overseas or in India after completing my studies?" For example, if you plan to settle in the US, then it is logical to get a degree from a university in the US. Always remember that the probability of getting a job in the US is higher if you have studied there. On the other hand, if you have plans of settling in India, then it makes no sense to study abroad. First and foremost, when you go abroad for higher studies, chances are that you will take up a loan (cost incurred in foreign currency), which needs to be repaid within a few years after graduation. If the cost is incurred in US dollars and you come back to India for a job, you will never be able to repay that loan because of the stark difference in the exchange rates between the two currencies. Thus, it is important to understand your future career goals before embarking on the further studies route either in India or abroad.
Do you prefer diversity or homogeneity?
Many students go overseas to get a flavor of that country's culture. When you step outside of India to pursue higher studies, you come into contact with people from all around the world. The classroom overseas is filled with students from all walks of life and they are from every corner of the world, with diverse cultural backgrounds. This is something that students in India miss out on. Universities in India are dominated by Indians, with little or no cultural diversity. Thus, in classroom discussions, you will only get to hear the Indian perspective. If you are someone who prefers to interact with people of the same culture, it is better to get an education in India itself. On the other hand, if you love exploring different cultures and understanding others' perspectives, then studying abroad is the way to go.
What do you plan to study?
The course of study that you plan to pursue is also an important element in deciding if a local or an overseas education is right for you. There are some fields of study which are relatively more developed overseas as compared to in India. If you have plans of taking up Art, Filmography or Journalism, it is better to pursue it from an overseas university since these fields are slowly coming up in India. Comparatively, these fields of study are more developed in countries like the US, UK and Australia.
However, if you intend to study Engineering, Medicine or Science, universities in India are on par with overseas universities with regards to the curriculum. However, universities abroad have better infrastructure and state-of-the-art facilities when it comes to laboratory-related work. So, if your focus is on having hands-on experience at institutes with world-class facilities, it is better to study abroad. However, if your focus is on the curriculum and grasping the fundamentals of the subject matter, you have a choice between Indian universities and those overseas.
The decision of studying in India or abroad is really a personal decision. You have to keep in mind the aforementioned points before coming to a conclusion.
